Originally from Alum Creek, WV, Dr. Childress is a graduate of West Virginia University School of Dentistry in Morgantown, West Virginia. After receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 1999, he and his wife researched several locations in which to establish themselves and ultimately returned to their home state of West Virginia. In 2000, Dr. Childress became the owner of his own private dental practice in Beckley, WV.
Once established in Beckley, Dr. Childress quickly took his practice to the forefront of modern dentistry. Utilizing the most up-to-date technological advances available, he soon began offering his patients unheard of conveniences with exceptional precision and comfort. With the help of his 3D Galileos cone beam CT, the CEREC crown and bridge CAD-CAM, digital radiographs, and much more, Dr. Childress strives to excel at every treatment procedure he completes.
Dentistry, however, was not Dr. Childress’s first passion. He states “in seventh grade my career counselor asked me what I wanted to become when I grew up.” His immediate response was “I’m going to be a professional motocross racer, but if that isn’t everything I dream it to be, I want to become a dentist.” True to his words at such a young age, Dr. Childress initially pursued a career in professional motocross. He achieved many successes, earning four amateur national championship titles in 1987 and 1988 with Team Green Kawasaki. Dr. Childress was later contracted with factory Suzuki to race the AMA Professional series in 1989. During his years racing the professional supercross and motocross series, he had several top ten finishes and one podium finish. Though most of his time was allocated to training and racing, Dr. Childress decided to simultaneously fulfill his undergraduate credits by taking some full time semesters, many part time semesters, and even taking a few semesters off from college.
